Editorial & review policy
Our content helps pharmacists make real decisions about their pay, practice and patients. That only works if you can trust it. Here is how we research, write and maintain everything we publish.
Who writes and reviews it
Every article is written or reviewed by a GPhC-registered UK pharmacist, drawing on first-hand experience in community and locum pharmacy. Each post carries a named byline that links to the author's page, with their credentials and background. Where a piece covers clinical or financial detail, every figure and claim is checked against a primary source before it goes live, and any independent reviewer who has checked it is named on the post.
Sources we rely on
We cite primary, authoritative sources — and link to them so you can check for yourself. These include:
- NHS, NHSBSA, NICE and the BNF for clinical and service detail;
- the GPhC and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for professional standards;
- Community Pharmacy England (and the equivalent bodies in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) for funding and the contractual framework;
- HMRC and GOV.UK for tax, National Insurance and thresholds;
- the MHRA and peer-reviewed journals where relevant.
How we keep it accurate and current
Pharmacy figures change every year — funding, NI rates, service specifications, fees and thresholds. So:
- every figure is checked against a primary source before publication, and again whenever we update a post;
- posts show a visible publication date, and an updated or reviewed date when we revise them;
- evergreen guides are reviewed at least once a year, and sooner when the underlying figures change;
- tax and pay figures are kept in step with the same verified data that powers Pharmosphere's own tools.
Independence and disclosure
Our editorial decisions are our own. If a post is ever sponsored or contains a commercial partnership, we label it clearly at the top — and we never let a sponsor shape clinical or financial guidance. We do not, and will not, advertise prescription-only medicines to the public.
Not personalised advice
Our tax, pay and clinical content is general information for UK pharmacists, not personalised advice. Your circumstances are specific to you — for tax matters, speak to a qualified accountant or adviser; for clinical matters, follow your own professional judgement and local protocols.
Corrections
If you spot something that's wrong or out of date, please tell us and we'll fix it. You can reach us via the help centre. We'd genuinely rather know.
