Pharmosphere turns official NHS open data into a clear picture of any community pharmacy — how busy it is, what services it provides, and how it compares with nearby pharmacies.
Use it to assess an area before you accept a shift, or to keep an eye on the pharmacies you locum at regularly.

Find and read a pharmacy#
- 1
Open the directory
Go to the pharmacy directory. It opens on the 60 busiest pharmacies across the UK. Pick a nation card at the top — All UK, England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland — to scope the list. - 2
Search or find near you
Use the search box to find a specific pharmacy by name, brand, address, postcode or code. Or type a postcode into Find near you to list the nearest pharmacies to that district. On the All UK or England views, narrow further with the filter chips: 40-hour, 100-hour or Distance-selling. - 3
Open a pharmacy and read the benchmark
Click any pharmacy name to open its detail page. The Overview highlights headline items dispensed, an items-over-time chart, and How this pharmacy compares: benchmark bars showing the percentage of pharmacies it's busier than, both Nationally and within its Integrated Care Board. - 4
Add it to your watchlist
When you're signed in, use the Watch button on any pharmacy to add it to your watchlist, where you can keep an eye on its published dispensing trends month on month. The button shows Watching once it's added — press it again to remove it.
What each tab tells you#
For England, tabs run across the top of the detail page:
- Overview — headline items dispensed, the items-over-time chart, and the benchmark bars. Below that, market position (local market share, year-on-year and month-on-month growth, EPS adoption) and its service mix.
- Income — an indicative estimate built from dispensing and service volumes.
- Opportunities — services where it does fewer than similar local pharmacies, plus nearby GP practices and local market changes.
- Trends, Services, Surgeries and Nearby — round out the picture, including which GP practices it dispenses for.
Use the month selector to look back at earlier data, and the PDF report / CSV export links at the top.
Income is an indicative model, not your pay
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland show what their open data allows — dispensing volume, services, and (for Scotland and Wales) real published NHS payments or dispensing fees.
Compare two pharmacies#
From any detail page, use the Compare button, or open Compare pharmacies directly. Pick Pharmacy A and Pharmacy B and you'll get a side-by-side table of their latest-month NHS activity, with the higher figure in each row picked out in bold.
For the bigger picture across a whole nation, Pharmacy insights shows national dispensing and service trends, the busiest regions and the largest operators (multiples).
