Getting started with Pharmosphere

Updated Fri, 26 Jun 2026 3 min read

Pharmosphere is the starting point for the administrative side of locum work: log the shifts you work, turn them into invoices, keep track of who has paid, and get an indicative picture of your tax and pay. A few minutes a week keeps your records up to date.

Everything lives in one place, so here is a quick tour: how to find your way around, how to get verified, and how to log your first shift.

What Pharmosphere does — and doesn't — do

Pharmosphere tracks the status of your invoices and payments. It never holds, sends, or moves money, and it never contacts a pharmacy for you. The pharmacy pays you directly, and you send the invoice and any reminder yourself. The app just prepares the text and PDF.

The weekly loop#

Most of Pharmosphere runs on a simple rhythm: log the work, invoice it, track the payment, and watch it feed your running tax estimate. Once you see the shape of it, the rest of the app makes sense.

  1. Log a shiftdate · rate · hours
  2. Create invoicebranded PDF
  3. Track paymentsent → paid
  4. Tax updatesset-aside figure
One shift flows through to invoices, payment status and your tax estimate.

Finding your way around#

The top navigation is your map:

  • Dashboard — your home screen. Outstanding, overdue and paid totals, shifts logged, and a quick tax estimate, all at a glance.
  • Shifts — log the work you've done and see it on your calendar.
  • Invoices — turn logged shifts into invoices and track them through to paid.
  • Tax — an estimate of what to set aside this tax year.
  • Salary — compare locum and employed pay.
  • Pharmacies — search and benchmark NHS pharmacies across the UK, where data allows.
  • Community — ask questions and share with other pharmacists.
  • Profile — your photo, services, and documents.

Figures are estimates, not advice

Tax and salary figures are estimates and general guidance, not financial advice — check GOV.UK or your accountant for your own situation.

Get verified#

When you set up your account, you are asked for your GPhC registration number. A team member will confirm it shortly afterwards. Your registration number is used only to verify you are registered and is never shown publicly.

You don't have to wait to begin

You can log shifts and create invoices straight away while verification is in progress — only posting in the Community waits until you are verified. If you skipped your GPhC registration number during sign-up, you can add it later from your profile.

Your first step: log a shift#

The best way to see Pharmosphere working is to log a shift. Until you have logged anything, your dashboard shows a Get started — log your first shift prompt.

  1. 1

    Open the shift form

From the dashboard, select Log a shift (or go to /shifts/new).

  2. 2

    Fill in the details

Enter the date, the pharmacy, your rate, hours, and any mileage.

  3. 3

    Save it

Save the shift. It immediately feeds your totals, your tax estimate, and your next invoice.

That one shift now powers the whole weekly loop. See Log a shift for the detail, then Create an invoice when you are ready to invoice it.
