Export your tax pack

Updated Sun, 21 Jun 2026 3 min read

When Self Assessment looms, you don't want to be rebuilding a year of figures from memory. The tax pack turns everything you've already logged into ready-made files you can hand to an accountant or copy onto your own return.

What's in the pack#

You can pull up to three downloads from the Tax page. Each one serves a different job, so it's worth knowing what to reach for.

DownloadWhat it isWhat it's for
PDF packA clean summary of turnover, allowable expenses and net profit. For sole traders each figure is mapped to its SA103 box, with a quarterly (MTD) breakdown and an index of your expense records.Copying figures onto your return, or handing your accountant a single readable overview.
CSVA transaction-level list of every expense.Importing into Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent or Sage.
All receiptsA single ZIP of every receipt file you've attached for the year.Backing up each claim if HMRC ever asks to see proof.

The figures come straight from your logged shifts and expenses, so the pack is only as complete as your records.

Note

This is a summary and an estimate, not tax advice. Confirm anything important on GOV.UK or with your accountant before filing.

This is what your accountant needs

The PDF pack plus the CSV is exactly the bundle most accountants ask for: a readable summary of the numbers and the transaction-level detail behind them. Add the receipts ZIP and you've handed over a complete, audit-ready year in three files.

Make it count#

A pack is only useful if the records behind it are tidy. Before you export:

  • Check the Year-end checklist on the same page. If it flags expenses without a receipt, HMRC can ask for those — add the missing ones first.
  • Make sure your shifts are all logged, as turnover is built from them.

Please note

Keep your records for at least five years after the filing deadline. HMRC can ask to see them well after you've filed, so don't delete your receipts once the return is in.

For more on the numbers themselves, see understand your tax estimate. Running a limited company instead? The PDF gives you a profit-and-loss summary for your accountant rather than SA103 boxes.
